Dear Animal Advocate,

Earn up to $25,000 for your shelter or rescue! Maddie's Fund® and Petfinder.com are holding their second annual Marketing Competition to reward organizations that have created successful strategies for adopting hard to place pets. Check out this year's rules for entry.

Now in Project Year 4, Maddie's® Pet Rescue Project in New York City has decreased cat and dog deaths in the city's shelters from 31,701 in the baseline year to 18,109 in 2007 (a 42% drop). Read more in New York City Charges Ahead in the Race to Save Lives.

Shelter Medicine Spotlight: In July, Maddie's Fund® awarded the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine a $1.7 million grant for a comprehensive shelter medicine program directed by Julie Levy, DVM, PhD. Details are inside.
